Adrienne Pedersen’s live report on rising gas prices for WFLA in Tampa, Florida, was a smash hit. As the reporter was broadcasting her story in front of the camera, a taxicab and a compact car collided in the background with a bone-crunching impact.

The crash sent both cars spinning toward the reporter and cameraman.

The collision sent the driver of the compact car to the hospital.

‘The cab was moving so fast that it threw both vehicles through the intersection and onto the curb,’ reported WFLA cameraman Rugene Moore.

‘The cab was literally spinning out towards us. Luckily a soft patch of dirt in a planter stopped them.’

But Pendersen didn’t even flinch. With her back to crash, facing the camera, she simply finished her report.

When morning anchor Gayle Guyardo cut in, she was shocked to point out the collision.
Turn around
Pendersen said she hadn’t seen it, but promptly turned around and went to check on the drivers of the cars.

‘I heard it, but I had no idea what it was,’ Pedersen later said.

‘I really just wanted to get off the air so we could run over and make sure they were OK.’

Guyardo, as she took over for the reporter, tied the collision back into the original story about the rising cost of crude oil.

‘Probably shocked by the gas prices,’ she quipped.
